Hey there guys! If you have applied for university you have probably started to think about what to pack and things you will need to buy for university. There are allot of things I took and allot of things I quickly learned I wish I had taken in my first year. There are also a few items I have learned come in super handful along the way. I think ill get state to it;

· Vanish powder: I would take the colour safe one, this is if you stain any items of clothing which you are bound to do through cooking or going out drinking, especially if you like wearing white. I would also take a small washing up bowl u can soak an item of clothing in at a time with the vanish rather than rendering your sink useless for an hour to do it.
· A clothing rack/dryer: Washing is £3.60 and drying is £1.70. Yes, I’m aware its only less than £2 but if you do that every week its £8 a month, that’s a drink or entry somewhere and on a student budget in a cost-of-living crisis that CAN MATTER. That could make the difference of buying milk or not (trust me I’ve had a few weeks like that). The dryers don’t necessarily always dry your stuff properly especially if you overload it so it’s a good backup.
· Pillow protectors: in my experience all the accommodations provide a mattress protector as a little welcome gift, they don’t provide the pillow protectors.
· Mattress topper: This is important especially if you’re in first year university accommodation. My pattress in my private accommodation is super comfortable but I still remember the days of back pain in first year on that single bed. Also just think how many lovely people have been on that mattress and you have no idea how many lovely things they have been up to on it 😊.
· Extension cord: If your planning on taking multiple devices that require plugging in this will help allot, it will also come in handy if all the plugs are in one area and you want to plug something in on the other side of the room.
· First aid kit: You never know, all it takes is a mess up in the kitchen or your shoes to rub the back of your heels.
· Small sowing kit: This is for when a little hole appears in your favourite jumper or between the seems of your jeans (ladies am I right).
· Strong reuseable shopping bags: You’ll most likely be doing your shopping on your own and there is nothing more painful then when you have 3 or 4 plastic bags, one breaks and your way home and the car isn’t there to save you.
· Tupperware: this is just helpful for when you have left overs to store in the fridge, reduces waist and comes in handy for meal prep.
· Kettle descaler: Some of the kettles have been used over and over for several years and the limescale can build up making you not want to use it, helps you to clean it properly.
· Plug in air freshener: this just means your room smells good most the time so when you have guests over they don’t instantly run away, its very easy to get used to your own smell.
· Passport: If you want a job you will need this!
· Two sets of bedding
· Snuggle/blanket: just in case you get cold
· A FAN: the accommodations have heaters for winter but no aircon for summer and it gets hot!
· Sliders: This is useful for fire alarms and going to and from the kitchen (kitchen floors are not always the cleanest
· Some form of dressing gown/oodie/ large top: again, useful for when fire alarms go off in the middle of the night or in the middle of your shower.
· Decorations: after you have moved in it may feel a little sad if you just have a bare room, some form of mood lighting may also help.
· A really big bag of pasta: This means you have a constant supply of food even when you have no money you will have some form of backup and something to eat
